Race reports and results from the Chingford League are towards the end. This was a great season for the women’s team who were victorious in the Senior Women’s category and the Veterans’ Category. Many congratulations to all who raced. A new committee is now in place, and you’ll see their pictures, with the positions they hold on the back of this edition.
Another velopark run was held in January and was another success. Another great January moment was our victory in the annual mob match against Vicky Park – the first time for a very long time that we have won. A great celebration afterwards in the Hare and Hounds with the singing of the Eton Manor Song, which sportingly the Vicky Park runners joined in with too. The Love 2run group did their 5k at Hackney Marshes parkrun and received their medals, and decided they wanted to carry on. So there is a new group called Still Love to Run who are targeting a 10k in July in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. They are all busy training both at the track on a Monday night and at the clubhouse on Thursdays. Training schedules are published on the website and are built around races. The facebook page is always busy with news about training, about races and other events. There are more of Tom’s fascinating pen portraits and we’re into the 2000s now. This is my fifth issue as Reporter Editor, and I’ve enjoyed doing this job enormously. Sadly, my work is so busy now that I am having to stand down. Compiling this edition I have been grateful for the help of Claire Fisher who has assembled some of the results and written some interesting features on strengthening. Claire will now assume the role of Reporter Editor and I will help her as much as I can. Do think about writing a race report or any other feature – if you’d like to then just let Claire know – it’s enormously helpful. Alison Wells Up the Manor!
